Jerry Collins, PhD

J. G. Collins is a Professor of Anesthesiology at the Yale University School of Medicine and Past Chair of the Yale IACUC. Dr. Collins is also a part-time OLAW employee in the Division of Policy and Education through the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) Mobility Program where his work focuses on the development of curricula to educate targeted audiences regarding the PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. Prior to chairing the Yale IACUC he worked with local, state and national organizations to improve scientific literacy among high school students. During that time he was the Yale University spokesperson on the subject of the use of animals in research, teaching and testing.  Jerry developed and served as the first chair of the Society for Neuroscience Committee on Neuroscience Literacy and worked closely with NABR in efforts to educate the public about the importance of animals in the research process. Jerry served as a member of the AAALAC International Council on Accreditation and on the Board of Directors of SCAW and NABR.
